Our program trains participants to provide insightful analysis and to inform such things as capital asset decisions, firm strategic direction and future market orientation by combining the disciplined study of market and economic principles with a deep understanding of the functioning and inter-connections of the energy industry. At the core of any discussion of these matters is the manner in which energy markets function. The inexorable link between economic activity and energy demand implies that understanding the sources of growth is critical to determining the market pull for energy resources. The economic factors that determine supply and deliverability then determine how the demand for energy services will be met. More specifically, the economics of energy supply and deliverability affect how energy resources are allocated through both space and time. We are particularly proud to offer the program here in Houston, the widely recognized energy capital of the world, and at Rice which already has an existing reputation in energy studies built upon the programs in the Economics Department and the Baker Institute’s Center for Energy Studies (CES). Along with our partners, the commitment of Rice to training future leaders in academia, business, and government and the proven excellence of the Center for Energy Studies in creating cutting edge analysis of the energy industry will provide a solid foundation for the program. 美国莱斯大学能源经济学硕士课程入学要求： 学术要求： 大学本科毕业，拥有学士学位，GPA不低于3分 语言要求：雅思总分不低于7分，托福总分不低于90分 Admission to the program is limited to outstanding participants who have earned undergraduate degrees (except current Rice students who may apply to the MEECON program in the second semester of their senior year). The department will determine admissions based on a candidate’s academic record, recommendations of scholars and professionals, and other pertinent information, including knowledge of the energy sector. Applicants must submit unofficial transcripts for all academic work beyond secondary school and up to three letters of recommendation. Recommendation letters should address the candidate’s ability and achievement in relevant projects, experience and awareness of the wider energy sector, motivation in academic endeavors, and potential for career advancement. Applicants are recommended but not required to submit scores from either the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Demonstrated English proficiency through minimum TOEFL scores of 600 on the paper-based test, 250 for the computer-based test, or 90 on the internet-based test. Students who choose to take the IELTS exam must score a minimum 7.0.
