Students in the MLS Program may choose to study the legal system broadly or may choose to pursue focused course of study in a particular area. Students may pursue the MLS on a part-time or full-time basis. The degree could be completed in as few as two semesters, but must be completed in no more than eight semesters. While most classroom courses are open to MLS students, participation in clinical programs will be unusual, as those programs are practice-oriented courses allowing students to represent clients under the supervision of a professor. Important Note: Completion of an MLS degree does not qualify recipients to practice law. Graduates of the MLS Program also will not be eligible to sit for the bar exam. Furthermore, MLS students wishing to pursue a JD degree must follow the same application process as JD applicants, including taking the LSAT exam. Credit earned toward the MLS is not transferable to the JD Program.
