The department collaborates on three dual MA programs with the Departments of Asian Languages and Civilizations (Japanese and Chinese), Religious Studies, and French and Italian, and participates in the Museum and Field Studies Certificate Program. History faculty research and publish in a variety of subfields, including social history, intellectual history, cultural history, borderlands history, history of gender and sexuality, and diplomatic history. Related areas of study combine a Master’s degree in history plus East Asian languages and civilizations (Chinese or Japanese) or Religious Studies, or the Museum and Field Studies Certificate Program.
