The UK government, amongst others, has recognised the shortage of skilled practitioners of cyber security and its associated risk management. In particular, they have identified the need for those who have a well-rounded, multidisciplinary view of the subject area, embracing not only technical matters but also aspects of computer science, criminology, law and social factors. The Masters programme in Cyber-Security and Risk Management aims to support the growing need for more formal, systematic approaches to the core areas of Cyber-Security and Risk management and to provide you with relevant theoretical and practical knowledge of these areas. It is designed to provide training and education in the application of the concepts, techniques, methods and approaches of cyber risk management in practical organisational contexts. The compulsory modules will provide a foundation in risk and cyber-security concepts, while the wide range of optional modules allows you to enhance your knowledge and understanding in related disciplines (e.g. insurance, project risk management, IT systems, etc.). Further specialisation can be achieved through the dissertation. Sucessful completion of the MSc will give you the confidence for pursuing a career in the fast growing risk management, cyber-security (e.g. Information officers, project managers, IT security officers) management profession.
