This allows you to make a decision on your choice of final degree after you have experienced all of the options available. The common programme is made up of the physical science, mathematics and computing required to analyse engineering systems, and the design and manufacturing knowledge you need in order to make things. A laboratory programme is built into the degree so that you can acquire the skills you need to test a product which you have analysed and built. All of our degrees are accredited by the Engineering Council, as well as following the recommendations of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Group Business and Design Projects are full-time activities in Year 3 and have strong links with industry. They are regularly supervised by industrialists as well as the academics in the department.
