It explores theory and practice and the social, cultural, economic and political contexts in which the media work. Drawing on current research carried out by specialists in media, communication and cultural studies, you will develop: a critical understanding of media, culture and society knowledge to theorise and analyse media and journalism knowledge of media law and how it relates to journalism an understanding of strengths and weaknesses of different types of data dissemination an awareness of professional codes of practice from the National Union of Journalists You will also learn analytical and critical skills to conduct research in the field of media and journalism, the skills to produce news reports in a range of media forms, and skills to script, shoot and edit digital film.
