In economics, you will learn about the principles which underpin contemporary capitalism and about how they shape and are shaped by political and ideological concerns. Combining the two will give you a critical understanding of how societies are and should be governed and of the range of options open to policymakers. The course is equally divided between the two subjects, though you can choose from a range of optional courses in years two and three, enabling you to mould the degree around your specific interests. You will also write a dissertation on a topic of your choice in either politics or economics.
