Consequently substantial effort is now being made in reducing these environmental impacts from the way we generate energy, to the methods used for recycling our waste. These approaches are firmly grounded in engineering which has the potential to play a prominent role in achieving industrial sustainability. The MSc in Sustainable Engineering programme is relatively new, and being both technology and management based, acknowledges the modern challenges of a rapidly changing global manufacturing industry. It is therefore designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to enable them to help industry and commerce reduce their environmental impacts and support the objectives of sustainable development. Delivered by internationally leading researchers from the field of sustainable manufacturing and supported by real industrial case studies, the programme is intended to analyse and promote the role of sustainable engineering. Students are able to acquire the technical and transferable skills required to succeed in a career in industry, commerce or academic research by demonstrating their knowledge and ability in the field of sustainable engineering at the highest level. The programme is aimed at graduates from the engineering or scientific fields (or related discipline) and/or those with a number of years of manufacturing industry experience, who wish to acquire in-depth knowledge of this key specialism in order to progress their careers. This programme is particularly popular with international students as businesses worldwide strive to improve their sustainability performance.
