At the same time, international trade, international environment law and globalisation shape the everyday life for of all of us. Today, the law between states is as important as the laws within states. This programme provides opportunities to specialise in the topical and popular field of public international law. Unlike many other postgraduate programmes, the LLM in International Law places particular emphasis on the ever-expanding role of international organisations such as the UN, the EU, the Council of Europe and the World Trade Organisation. It explores their differing institutional cultures, powers and activities and their increasing interconnectedness. It also examines their legal accountability in light of their increasing influence in the contemporary international society. The LLM in International Law is developed to provide students with a critical understanding of global law, justice and governance, while also highlighting the interplay between international and European law. It offers a pathway to careers in international organisations, EU institutions, NGOs, diplomacy and the civil service.
