TOEFL All applicants from countries in which the official language is not English are required to submit official evidence of English language proficiency. Applicants must receive a score of 570 on the written test. The computer-based TOEFL must have a minimum score of 230. The minimum score for Next Generation TOEFL (iBT) is 90. Take the TOEFL at least 30 days prior to the deadline. GRE The GRE is required for all applicants. It is composed of three sections: Analytical Writing Verbal Reasoning Quantitative Reasoning We encourage you to take the GRE no later than October to ensure that your scores arrive by the deadline. To be valid, the GRE must have been taken within the past 5 years. For applicants for Fall 2018 admission, test scores taken before July 1, 2011, will not be accepted.

PS Required. GPA GPA is only one of many factors that goes into the admissions decision. The minimum GPA required to apply to a graduate program at UC Berkeley is 3.0. Among our admitted students, the typical major GPA is 3.8 or higher. CV Required. Fee The application fee is not re­fundable. If you are a U.S. citizen or current permanent resident, the application fee is $105; for all others, the fee is $125. RL Please follow the detailed instructions in the online application and remember to inform your recommenders that the department's deadline to receive supplemental materials is the same as the application deadline. Your recommenders must submit their letters online via the Online Graduate Application for Admissions and Fellowships. Transcript Upload copies of official transcripts for the departmental initial review. If admitted, official transcripts from each institution at which you have complete college-level work will be required. Transcripts that are not in English should include translations from the school that issued the original transcripts. Transcripts must be uploaded no later than the application deadline.
