TOEFL We require a total score of 85; with 22 in the speaking section, and 21 in the other sections. Occasionally we will petition Graduate Studies to admit an applicant with a slightly lower subscore. The TOEFL must be less than 2 years old on the first day of the first semester. GRE There is no minimum score for the GRE, but our admitted students generally have scores in the 314 range

PS We emphasize the importance of this statement and ask you to be as specific as possible in discussing (1) your research interests and how they are related to research now being done at BYU, (2) your career plans and goals after you finish your graduate program, (3) your reasons for wanting to attend graduate school at BYU instead of another university, and (4) any special explanations that you might wish to make about your preparation for graduate work. Fee The application fee of $50 should be paid online. RL Three letters of recommendation Transcript Upload unofficial copies of all transcripts to your application. Official transcripts will be required after recommendation for admission. Expediency in having the official transcripts sent to BYU* upon notice of being recommended for admission is important. Admission will not be complete until official transcripts are received and verified. * In the case of international applicants: official transcripts and other documentation should be sent as directed to IERF. Transcripts should be in the native language and accompanied by an official English translation unless the university issues transcripts in English only. The translation into English must be literal, not interpretive. Transcripts must bear official, not photocopied, signatures, seals or stamps. For an accurate evaluation of your unofficial transcript, it is helpful to have a grading scale with the transcript. The degree must be at least the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree (a four-or five-year degree program) and must be completed before you begin your graduate program.
