GPA At least a 3.00 or higher undergraduate weighted mean GPA,If the candidate has a GPA below 3.0 they must submit a justification letter. This letter should detail why the candidate's GPA is lower than 3.0 and why they feel that they are prepared to pursue the public health degree in spite of their lower GPA. This letter is different than the Statement of Purpose and will be included with the candidate’s application file. CV Resume or curriculum vitae - The admission committee is particularly interested in the applicant’s work and volunteer experience in human services (such as community mental health, homeless shelters, child welfare agencies, hospitals). The applicant’s history with such agencies provides insight into his/her promise to succeed in these arenas. Such activities also are likely to expose the applicant to social workers who then can write letters of recommendation concerning the candidates fit and promise in the profession. RL Four letters of recommendation - Four professional letters of recommendation from professors or supervisors in work and/or volunteer settings, particularly those in human services settings. It is suggested that applicants submit recommendations from persons who have been directly responsible for assessing the applicants' human service-related work/volunteer experience or academic performance. One or two letters from social workers are strongly encouraged.
