TOEFL Test of English as a Foreign Language: A score of at least 79 on the (international students only, unless they have earned a college degree from an American university) IELTS On the TOEFL, a total combined minimum score of 79 is required. The TOEFL score cannot be older than 2 years. On the IELTS, a minimum band score of 6.5 is required. The IELTS score can be older than 2 years. Official TOEFL scores must be received by the University before the application is considered complete. GRE All applicants are required to take the general portion of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) administered by ETS. The GRE must be taken at least a month prior to the application deadline and the score cannot be more than 5 years old. GRE scores are considered in the context of the applicant's whole record, but a strong applicant will normally have a total minimum score on the GRE verbal and quantitative section of 302 (preferably a minimum of 151 on the Verbal and minimum of 151 on the quantitative section).
