TOEFL The minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 550 (paper-based) 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based).  IELTS The minimum IELTS score is 6.5. Submitted scores must be no more than two years old. GRE Most have scored in the 80th percentile or higher in one or more parts of the Graduate Record Exam and have a score of 600 or higher on the GRE's verbal section. 

PS The statement of purpose should be a one- or two-page statement indicating the reasons for the applicant’s interest in graduate study at the University of Kentucky. Applicants should make intellectual and scholarly interests the focal point of these statements. The statement should explain what field(s) the applicant hopes to concentrate on as a graduate student, and, if possible, note which faculty member(s) with whom the applicant wishes to work. Applicants to the doctoral program should be aware that the department may not admit students who wish to work with a faculty member who is about to retire or who because of an administrative appointment is not accepting new students. GPA The department requires applicants to have a minimum undergraduate grade point of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) CV The curriculum vitae need be no more than a page or two in length and should indicate the applicant's education, qualifications for graduate study (such as language training), and other appropriate accomplishments. Fee Domestic applicants (U.S. citizens or resident aliens) must pay a $65 application fee; international applicants must pay a $75 fee. RL Applicants should obtain three letters of recommendation.
