RL Two Letters of Recommendation The letters can be from an academic or professional reference. The letters may be uploaded online via the Graduate Education Student Portal. When you receive access to the Portal, you will provide the names and email addresses of your recommenders. The system will then send the recommender an automated message with directions to upload their letters. The letters may also be mailed to us at the address listed below. If the letter is being mailed directly to us, the letter must be written on department or business letterhead stationery, and it must include a Graduate School Recommendation Form. Transcript Arrange to have an official, certified, professional school record sent to Michigan State University from the principal or registrar of each school you have attended. The record can also be sent by the Ministry of Education in your country. Each official transcript must be sent in the original, sealed envelope. Records must contain transcripts with subjects and grades as well as diplomas or degree certificates. The records, diplomas, and/or degree certificates should note the degree earned and date the degree was received. Photocopies or notarized copies are not acceptable. Official translations must be provided when originals are not in English. APPLICANTS FROM CHINESE UNIVERSITIES—effective in spring of 2014, applicants must have their records verified by the China Academic Degree and Graduate Education Development Center (CDGDC).
