TOEFL Adequate command of spoken and written English is required for admission. Applicants whose first language is not English must submit an official test score from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Stanford accepts only ETS (Educational Testing Service) scores. Minimum TOEFL Requirements: 100 GRE Scores from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) General Test are required of all applicants.

PS The Statement of Purpose should describe succinctly your reasons for applying to the proposed program at Stanford, your preparation for this field of study, research interests, future career plans, and other aspects of your background and interests which may aid the admissions committee in evaluating your aptitude and motivation for graduate study. If you are submitting the official transcript via a secure electronic certified transcript service, you only need to submit it once.
