TOEFL For students whose native language is not English: TOEFL or IELTS scores, taken within the last two years. Minimum total TOEFL score: 90 (iBT TOEFL). Minimum scores on the speaking component of the TOEFL: 22 (iBT TOEFL). Accepted students with scores 22-24 (iBT TOEFL) will be required to complete ESL 598 in their first semester in the program. Minimum scores on the speaking component of the IELTS: 6.5 (IELTS). Accepted students with scores 6.5-7 (IELTS) will be required to complete ESL 598 in their first semester in the program. GRE Graduate Record Exam (GRE) general test scores are required. Please have the testing service send a copy of your score to the department. Your official GRE score sheet is required before an offer of admission can be made.

PS Statement of purpose GPA A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (or its foreign equivalent). If you have attended graduate school and obtained a master’s degree, and the GPA is over 3.00, then the GPA of the undergraduate school can be below 3.00 for regular admission. As many letters as possible (but at minimum one letter) should be from instructors who can comment on your performance as a student. Transcript Official Transcripts: Two official copies of all previous transcripts for all colleges and universities attended, including junior and senior college and graduate transcripts (if applicable). If transcripts are in a language other than English, certified English translations are required in addition to the original documents.
