The department of Political Science offers Masters and Doctorate degrees designed to prepare students for teaching and research careers. There are several features which make our Graduate Program in Political Science an unusual and outstanding one. With about 55 graduate students and 25 faculty members, we offer balanced educational opportunities in most of the traditional sub-fields of political science. We know that there are a lot of fine graduate programs in political science, but we believe that ours has some important strengths that we hope you will consider.

Students must receive a score of 160 or higher on the verbal section of the exam (600 or higher using the GRE recording metric from July 2011 or earlier). Purdue's GRE code is 1631. International students are required to submit scores for the internet-based TOEFL exam. For admission, applicants must have an overall score of 90 with minimums in each component of 20 (writing), 25 (speaking), 14 (listening), and 20 (reading). If it is preferred, letters of recommendation may be submitted directly to the department. Official transcripts must be submitted directly to our graduate coordinator at the address below.
