America’s economy is increasingly focused on innovation-driven products, which must be legally protected, usually through patents. However, despite an exponential increase in new patent filings, the number of new patent practitioners registering with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has remained steady over the past five years. In the one-year Master of Science in Patent Law program, you’ll learn about the newest developments in the patent legal world through a hands-on curriculum. You’ll be taught by currently practicing patent attorneys and agents. You’ll draft a real, fileable patent application based on a real, Notre Dame-owned invention.

An overall undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 (3.5 or greater is recommended) Master of Science in Patent Law Application Process To be considered for the Master of Science in Patent Law Program, applicants must submit: Transcripts from all prior academic institutions - unofficial copies are fine for the application; but you’ll have to provide official transcripts eventually. Standardized test scores – we accept either GRE or LSAT. Notre Dame’s code for the GRE is 1841. If you’ve taken the LSAT, upload an unofficial copy of your scores, and we will work with you to get an official copy in place.
