The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The purpose of the Master’s program is to prepare advanced practice nurses with specialized knowledge, skills, and values. Graduates assume leadership roles in the health care system and the discipline of nursing by applying existing knowledge and using a spirit of inquiry to examine and test knowledge. Areas of Concentration include the following: Clinical Nurse Leader, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. Each student completes a core curriculum in theory, research, statistics, and legal, regulatory and policy aspects of advanced nursing practice. All students are required to follow either a full-time or part-time prescribed plan of study. Additional courses in the areas of concentration are also required. A minimum of 2,080 hours of clinical experience as an RN providing direct patient care is required prior to enrolling in Advanced Health Assessment Across the Lifespan (NURS 5062) or Neonatal Advanced Health Assessment (NURS 5362) except for students in the Clinical Nurse Leader track. The Clinical Nurse Leader Program prepares nurses as generalists in designing change at the micro systems level.

Some programs require specific GRE Subject Tests. Business programs require the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). *Please check with your intended program to confirm which test scores are required, if any. ENGLISH PROFICIENCY If you are not a native speaker of English, you must submit evidence of your proficiency in the English language. You may use the (no more than two years old) results from either one of two standardized tests to satisfy this requirement. If you submit results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), you need a minimum overall score of 550 for the paper-based test, or 79 for the Internet-based test. If you submit results from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), you need an average overall band score of at least 6.5. Only the scores from the Academic Module, not the General Training Module, are applicable. If you submit results from the Person Test of English (PTE) we require and overall score of 53.
