The MA Program is designed to be a one year program, with two semesters of coursework followed by completion of a Master’s Paper. The Ph.D. program takes an average of five years to complete. Currently, about 70 students are enrolled in Economics Graduate Programs. About 30% of our students are women, 70% are international students, and over 80% of PhD students receive financial aid. We feel that the diversity of our students is important, and adds to the overall strength of our program.

Your transcript(s) must meet the following criteria: A cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 for your entire undergraduate career or A grade-point average of at least 3.0 for your last two undergraduate years or Exceptional work in your entire final undergraduate career (3.5 or better) or Graduate work with a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 or better GRADUATE TEST SCORES Many programs require submission of the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Some programs require specific GRE Subject Tests. Business programs require the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). *Please check with your intended program to confirm which test scores are required, if any. ENGLISH PROFICIENCY If you are not a native speaker of English, you must submit evidence of your proficiency in the English language. You may use the (no more than two years old) results from either one of two standardized tests to satisfy this requirement. If you submit results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), you need a minimum overall score of 550 for the paper-based test, or 79 for the Internet-based test. If you submit results from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), you need an average overall band score of at least 6.5. Only the scores from the Academic Module, not the General Training Module, are applicable. If you submit results from the Person Test of English (PTE) we require and overall score of 53.
