You will engage with literature from Beowulf to the present day and a number of specialist topics including experiments in economics, economics of innovation, globalisation and international trade, financial economics and law and economics, literature and law; literature and ecology; Renaissance sexualities; literature and gender; speeches and speech-writing; creative writing; science fiction; 1940s writing. The background of many of the teaching staff, who as well as being experienced academics, have extensive experience working for, or advising, a number of organisations such as the Council of Economic Advisers to the First Minister, the Bank of England, the European Central Bank (ECB), HM Customs and Inland Revenue and the Calman Commission. It may be possible to spend a semester or year studying abroad as part of this degree programme.
