The creation of buildings is a complex operation requiring the skills of many disciplines, and our degrees provide a broad based learning environment giving you an in-depth understanding of civil engineering with a specific focus on structural engineering and the built environment. You will develop a range of theoretical and practical engineering and analytical skills, alongside multiple highly valued transferrable skills, ensuring that as a graduate you will be a valuable asset to national and international companies and institutions. The MEng programme is an Engineering degree which leads to a higher qualification than the traditional BEng programme, and requires an additional year of study. The programme shares the first two years with the BEng programme, while you can use the final two years to expand and strengthen your knowledge in Architectural Engineering. This offers you a quicker, more direct route to chartered engineer status than the BEng programme and has therefore become the preferred route to becoming a chartered engineer. By choosing the MEng you will benefit from advanced learning in design and management and an appreciation of the techniques required to manage and organise a multi-disciplinary engineering design project. The MEng involves four years of study, or five if you choose the Year in Industry or Year in Europe (sandwich) options.
