TOEFL If you took the TOEFL or IELTS exam when applying to a graduate program at another institution and scored above the Columbia GSAS minimum requirement of 100 (IBT), 600 (PBT), or 7.5 (IELTS), you may fulfill the English proficiency requirement by uploading a scanned copy of the score report to the online application. However, if you did not score above the Columbia GSAS required minimum or do not have a copy of your old results, you must retake the exam. Note: Applicants who upload a copy of the old score report should send an email to gsas-admissions@columbia.edu after they have submitted their application to request that the English proficiency test requirement be removed from their application record. IELTS The minimum required IELTS band score is 7.5. GRE No department other than Psychology sets a minimum score requirement.

GPA We don’t have a threshold for GPA and will read applicants’ transcript for grades on individual courses. Fee A nonrefundable fee of $105 must accompany the completed online application. RL Letters of recommendation should be submitted through the GSAS online application system. You may submit your online application even if your letters of recommendation have not yet been submitted. Once the letters are received, we will append them to your application. Three letters of recommendation are required, but the Graduate School accepts up to five letters. Transcript You would have to submit a notarized translated copy along with the original transcript. Students are encouraged to apply online. From GSAS guideline: “Please use the cover sheets provided below when mailing us any supporting materials for your application. All materials should be sent to the Office of Admissions, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, 107 Low Library, 535 West 116th Street, MC 4304, Columbia University, New York, NY 10027.”
