TOEFL An official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is required. The exam must have been taken within two years of the intended semester of entry. The minimum computer-based TOEFL score is 213. GRE GRE Test Scores (for teaching-based aid packages) GRE scores are required and must be from within the past 5 years. When taking your GRE exam, please have your scores sent to the Rutgers University-Newark campus: school code 2512. *Important Update* As of January 20, 2011 applicants who wish to be considered for teaching based aid must have a GRE Verbal score of 153 or above.
